15u – Andrew Warden played rep baseball for the Brampton Braves for 10 years and represented Ontario at the national championship in 1993.  He has been a fully NCCP certified coach for over 10 years both as a head coach and assistant.

16u -Jake Hines fresh off his 2023 Coach of the year returns as a non-parent Head Coach. Jake’s 17u team won the 2022/23 18u OBA Championship. Jake played played NJCAA in Iowa, as well as Independent Pro ball in the Frontier League. He also played 10 years in the IBL with 4 different teams, including the Barrie Baycats. 

17u – Brad Barlow will be returning as a non-parent High Performance Head Coach. Brad has over 20 years of coaching experience. He has spent time with the Ontario Blue Jays, Burlington Bulls where he was named the COBA head coach, and Stoney Creek Little League. Brad has helped develop numerous NCAA, NJCAA athletes including members of the Jr. Team Canada squad. He spent most of his playing time with the Hamilton Cardinals and had the opportunity to represent both the province of Ontario, and Canada. Brad is NCCP, Rapsodo, and Driveline certified.

18u – Zack Boese has been coaching for the last three years for both the Muskoka Hornets and Muskoka Outlaws baseball academy. He was awarded coach of the year the first two years with the Hornets. Zack has played for 7 years with the Muskoka Hornets and 2 years in Alberta with the Badlands Badgers baseball academy. During Zack’s playing time, he played every defensive position with the exception of pitching. He specialized in mainly middle infield and feels that his variety of defensive positioning allows him to teach all aspects of defense. Zack is excited to begin his time with the Barrie Baycats!

PITHCING INSTRUCTION

Brad Grieveson – Brad was hired in January 2020 by the IBL Barrie Baycats, Grieveson is one of the more decorated relievers in franchise history. During the 2021 season, Grieveson returned as a player/coach, pitching in games both from the rotation and from the bullpen for the Baycats. Brad a Barrie, ON native first played for the Baycats from 2002-2005 and recored a lifetime ERA of 1.74. Brad has a history and knowledge of the USA recruitment system. Brad attended North Central Texas College where he won the College World Series. Brad also attended South Eastern Oklahoma State University.  

CATCHING INSTRUCTION

Tyler Plumpton – Tyler is the current starting catcher for the IBL Barrie Baycats. Tyler played for the University of Rio Grande in Ohio. Tyler has won Championships at every level of Baseball and is one of the more decorated players to come out of the OBA system. 

HITTING INSTRUCTION

Ryan Rijo – Philadelphia Phillies draft pick and current 2023 All-Star IBL Barrie Baycat joins the High Performance Barrie Baycats as our lead Hitting instructor. Ryan grew up playing in the Barrie Minor Baseball Association before moving on to the Ontario Blue Jays, and New Mexico Junior College. 

MIDDLE INFIELD INSTRUCTION

Jeff Cowan – Growing up in the GTA Jeff was a member of the Team Ontario Astros and participated in the 2005 Canada Games representing Ontario taking home a Gold Medal. In 2005 Jeff was also a member of the Jr. National team participating in the Pan American Games.

Jeff attended High Point University NCAA1 from 2005-2009. Jeff Holds the following HighPoint Baseball records, All Time career for At bats (862), Games played (220), Base Hits (268) and Runs scored (185).

In 2008 Jeff played for the Wisconsin Woodchucks  (Northwoods Summer League Collegiate Baseball). While with Wisconsin Jeff set single season records for Runs (57), and Games Played (54).

In 2010 Jeff played for the Normal Cornbelters  (Frontier League Pro-Independent League)

Jeff also played for the Intercounty Barrie Baycats for 14 seasons. While with Barrie Jeff played in 346 games, he was batting champion in 2012 hitting .422, he was a first team All-Star in 2012, and second team All-Star in 2011. Jeff’s final game with the Baycats was on Sept 18/21 going 4/6 with 5 RBI’s including a bomb!
